Organized by the UAMS Teaching with Technology Committee, the Symposium is Central Arkansas’ premiere conference addressing technology in teaching and learning.

With presentations, posters and workshops, the UAMS Teaching with Technology Symposium is a two-day forum for sharing, learning and networking. Faculty, graduate students, instructional designers, librarians, administrators and other educators from Arkansas and the region are invited to the Little Rock for this event.

Call for Proposals Deadline Extended

Share your research with regional educators and practitioners!

The 2012 UAMS Teaching with Technology Symposium seeks presentations, workshops and posters focused on this year’s theme—Engaging Our Students: Technology & Active Learning. The deadline has been extended to April 15, 2012.

Click here to submit a proposal.

Priority will be given to proposals addressing active learning, blended learning, flipped classrooms, mobile technology, ebooks and storytelling in teaching and learning.

Proposals are being accepted for posters, 50 minute sessions, 10 minute lightning sessions, 1 hour, 25 minute workshops and 2 hour, 45 minute workshops.

Conference fees will be waived for presenters.

The 2012 UAMS Teaching with Technology Symposium, July 19-20, is a conference and networking event open to all educators and technology enthusiasts, including faculty, administrators, librarians, instructional designers and other practitioners.

The Teaching with Technology Committee invites you to this week’s eTech@Noon—The Active Learning Center, Team-Based Learning, and Library Renovations.

This presentation is Thursday, March 22 at 12pm in the UAMS College of Public Health Auditorium (8th floor, 8240). This event is free and open to the public.

Jan Hart, Steve Boone, James Graham, and Ernie Bailey will discuss the College of Medicine’s transition to an active learning curriculum. They will also share how UAMS Library and College of Medicine are working together to meet the learning needs of UAMS students.

eTech@noon: Inkling Interactive Textbooks

The Teaching with Technology Committee invites you to the eTech@Noon lecture Inkling Interactive Textbooks. 

This presentation is Thursday, January 26 at 12pm in the UAMS College of Public Health Auditorium (8th floor, Room 8/240). This event is free and open to the public.

Our speaker is Tracey Chan of Inkling. Inkling is an iPad based platform for interactive textbooks. It turns paper-based textbooks into engaging, interactive learning experiences while staying compatible with the print book for classroom use.

It includes:  

• Shared Notes that make it easy to collaborate with friends in realtime
• Integrated interactive media in every textbook title, such as videos, 3-D objects, and guided tours
• A simple and powerful user interface that makes it easy to study
• Interactive quizzes that help you immediately gauge your level of understanding
• An intuitive search engine that predicts your search as you type
•  Digital media you’d otherwise get online with a “code,” integrated directly
